Sudden cardiac arrest is rare in young people, but it can happen. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 2,000 young, seemingly healthy people under age 25 in the United States die each year of sudden cardiac arrest. These deaths leave behind a huge and devastating impact on families and communities. our family, this is more than a statistic; it’s a number that includes our son. JeMarcus passed suddenly from heart failure due to an undetected heart disease called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) while playing basketball during his freshman year in college. He was an integral part of our family and community. He loved music, in fact playing his saxophone in his room at night calmed his spirit. Because of that, the foundation has chosen to remember this passion by leveraging musical events as one of our primary fundraising initiatives. Warren JeMarcus was born November 6, 1986 to Warren and Cynthia Williams. He departed this life on March 31, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens, GA after suffering from heart failure during a basketball game. The Lord sent his angels to carry JeMarcus home where he could be in peace and lay at rest.
Early in life he accepted Christ at the Salem Missionary Baptist Church. He participated in various youth programs and was a member of the Young Adult Outreach Choir.
JeMarcus was a 2005 Graduate of Brookwood High School, Snellville, GA and was a member of the Broncos Basketball and Track & Field Teams. He was completing his freshman year at Gainesville College in Athens, GA and aspired to become an Architectural Engineer.
JeMarcus loved to spend time with his family and closest friends. He enjoyed reading, sporting events, down-home cooking, trivia and traveling to new and exciting places.
His jovial spirit and infectious smile is truly missed.
